Avalanche warning for region Indre Troms Sunday 28.01.2024

Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger

Published:
Avoid all avalanche terrain. Large accumulations of new snow could trigger large avalanches. Old persistent weak layers could be overloaded and fail, producing large avalanches.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 27. January 2024

Mountain weather

Saturday 27. January 2024

12 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 400 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Strong breeze from southwest, changing to gale from the south during the afternoon. -10 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l.

Sunday 28. January 2024

12 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 300 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Moderate gale from southwest. -7 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Særlig sør i regionen.

Store naturlig utløste skred ventes i mange heng.

All ferdsel i skredterreng frarådes.
